Landscape and outdoor living design in Dubai

Pools, gardens, pergolas, gazebos, terraces.
All Services

In-house landscape design and outdoor living for Dubai villas and resorts. Pools, pergolas, gazebos and planted gardens — climate-appropriate species, integrated lighting, and materials specified to age in the regional sun.

This is one of twelve services held in-house by Montaigne Design. We do not subcontract the parts of the room that matter most — drawings are produced by our designers, joinery by our workshop, lighting by our team, and procurement is held by us. The contractor builds. We design and supervise.

Engagements typically begin with a private conversation in Dubai or Shanghai. Our minimum project fee is AED 400,000, and we respond within one business day.

Landscape design and landscaping in Dubai — the studio's outdoor practice

Landscape design in Dubai is treated by the studio as an extension of the interior, not a separate trade booked at the end. Where most landscaping companies in Dubai arrive after the villa is finished, we hold the garden, the terrace and the pool within the same contract as the rooms they open onto — so the threshold between inside and outside is resolved by one hand.

The outdoor brief in the Gulf is unforgiving. Stone has to survive the summer, timber has to be specified for the heat, and irrigation has to be designed for reliability rather than appearance. Our landscaping work begins with those constraints and builds the garden outward from them.

Pergolas, gazebos and shaded outdoor rooms

Shade is the first material of any Dubai garden. A pergola in Dubai is not a decorative afterthought — it is what makes the terrace usable for eight months of the year, and we design pergolas, gazebos and shaded outdoor rooms as architecture, detailed in the same timber, stone and brass language as the interior.

A gazebo at the end of a Dubai garden, a louvred pergola over the dining terrace, a shaded majlis open to the pool — these are the structures that turn an exterior into a set of outdoor rooms. We draw them, specify them for the climate, and deliver them as part of the landscape scope.

Pool design and outdoor kitchens

Pool design is integrated with the architecture from day one — the lap pool aligned to a sightline, the water feature reading from the living room, the coping stone chosen for bare feet in July. We design the pool, the surrounding hardscape and the plant room together, not as separate packages.

Outdoor kitchens and dining terraces are designed as true extensions of the interior kitchen — the same workflow logic, the same material discipline, the same lighting consideration — so that entertaining moves outside without moving down in quality.

Plant palettes for Dubai's climate

Garden design in Dubai lives or dies on the plant palette. We specify climate-appropriate species selected for the regional sun, the salinity and the irrigation reality — not the species that photograph well in a rendering and fail by the second summer. The palette is chosen for how it reads across the year, not for the opening week.

Irrigation and outdoor lighting are designed as hidden infrastructure: drip lines routed for efficiency, lighting layered for the evening garden, both documented for the technicians who will maintain them long after handover.

Selected outdoor projects

The studio's outdoor work runs alongside its villa and hospitality portfolio — terraces, pools, planted courtyards and shaded structures designed as part of the larger commission. The projects below show the interior practice the same hands extend into the garden.
